How to Turn Off Do Not Disturb on Your iPhone

Do not disturb is a great feature on your iPhone that silences all notifications, including calls and text messages. It’s also useful for periods like meetings or formal events where you don’t want to be distracted.

It’s also great for when you’re driving and need to concentrate on the road. Sometimes, though, Do not disturb can get activated automatically on your iPhone and iPad.

How to turn it on

Do not disturb is a useful feature for many iPhone users who wish to keep their phone free from distractions during work, sleep and other quiet times. It can be set to automatically activate at a specific time, location or while using a particular app.

But it can also turn out to be a nuisance when you’re trying to text a contact, only to see a warning that says they have their notifications silenced. Luckily, there are ways to disable this notification in Focus status and get your texts back on track.

One way is to go into the Messages app and open any conversation with the person in question. If you see a bell or crescent moon icon next to their chat thread, they have their notifications muted, and you can easily unmute them.

Another option is to reset your iPhone settings. This process resets the conflicting settings to the default/factory ones, which helps resolve many issues related to iPhone stuck in Do Not Disturb mode.

You can do this by navigating to your iPhone settings and hitting the General option. After that, you can disable the Always and While iPhone is Locked options.

If the problem is recurring, you can also try rebooting your device. This can often eliminate application bugs and conflicts that are triggering the problem.

There is a good chance that a software update might be the culprit. To check for software updates, open the Settings app on your iPhone and tap on General, followed by Software Update.

How to turn it off

Do Not Disturb is a great feature that allows you to silence all of your notifications, including calls and texts. It’s perfect for when you need to get some shut-eye or take a break from social media.

However, it can also be annoying when it’s on all the time, especially if you miss important calls or texts that you wanted to receive. Fortunately, there are ways to fix this issue.

To turn it off, you can simply tap the Do Not Disturb icon on your iPhone’s screen. This icon looks like a moon, and it’s located in the status bar. When the Do Not Disturb mode is off, the words beside it will change to Focus.

Another way to check whether your Do Not Disturb mode is on or off is by using Control Center. To open Control Center, swipe down from the top of an iPhone X or later or from below the bottom of other models.

Once Control Center is open, swipe up from the bottom of the screen to access the Focus modes. Then, tap the Do Not Disturb option from the list of Focus modes.

You can also use Siri to turn Do Not Disturb off. Swipe down from the top right corner of an iPhone X or later or from beneath the bottom of other models to activate Siri.

Finally, you can turn Do Not Disturb off from the Settings app on an iPhone X or later or from the Control Center on an older model. This will disable Do Not Disturb on the entire device, and you can re-enable it at any time by tapping the Do Not Disturb icon from the Settings app or the Control Center.

How to customize it

The Do Not Disturb feature on iOS devices is a great way to help you sleep without being bothered by phone calls or notifications. However, you may need to customize Do Not Disturb settings to get the best results.

Do Not Disturb lets you set a time when you want to receive no phone calls or other notifications. You can also choose which apps you want to receive notifications from when Do Not Disturb is enabled. For example, you may want to get Slack or gas app notifications if you’re traveling or searching for the best prices on fuel.

If you’re going to be using Do Not Disturb for a certain period of time, it’s important to set the times and options that suit your needs. You can do this by adjusting the Do Not Disturb schedule or creating a Focus that automatically turns on and off at specific times.

When you turn on Do Not Disturb, your lock screen will darken and notifications won’t ring or pop up on the home screen. You can toggle the dim mode on or off by tapping the button next to Show on Lock Screen.

You can set up auto-reply options when people try to call you while Do Not Disturb is active. You can set up an auto-reply to only send a message to your work contacts or to all of them.

How to schedule quiet hours

You’re probably familiar with the do not disturb feature in iOS, which keeps your device silent from calls and notifications during set periods of time. You can turn it on or off manually, or schedule quiet hours, which automatically activates do not disturb during a predetermined time each day.

The Do Not Disturb setting is useful when you’re on a call or in a meeting, and you don’t want to hear your phone ringing or receiving notifications. It’s also helpful when you’re trying to get some rest at night and don’t want the sound of your phone to disturb your sleep.

To activate the do not disturb mode, swipe up from the bottom of your screen and tap the crescent-moon button in the iOS Control Center. You can also enable the feature from Settings > Do Not Disturb.

When the Do Not Disturb mode is on, you’ll see a small crescent moon icon at the top of the phone’s lock screen. If you want to turn it off, tap the toggle switch for Manual in the Control Center or Settings > Do Not Disturb.

One of the best features of do not disturb is that it allows you to choose which alerts are allowed to ring through during your preset quiet times. For example, you can allow calls from certain contacts or even set up repeat caller ID for repeated calls.

Microsoft’s Windows 10 software includes a similar feature called Quiet Hours, which mutes alerts from midnight to 6 a.m. You can turn on these notifications manually or schedule them in Windows 10.

Teams’ mobile app for Mac, Android and iPhone allows you to set quiet hours, which prevents you from being notified of new messages during your workdays. This is useful if you don’t want to be interrupted when you’re on a business call or in a meeting.
