You can use your iPhone to do so many things without ever touching it. You can open apps, search the web, fill up information, and send and receive calls, all by voice commands.
Hands-free technology has come a long way since the first iPhone was released in 2010. It’s now possible to use your device with hands free without any hassle.
Voice Control
Voice Control is a great way to make your iPhone or iPad easier to use, whether you have mobility limitations, limited dexterity, or are in a situation where you need to navigate with your hands free. This new accessibility feature for iOS 13 allows users to speak commands to their device, enabling them to open apps, send emails and texts, call contacts on their contact list, and even play music without using a data connection.
To get started, open the Settings app on your iPhone and select Accessibility. Then, scroll down to Voice Control and tap it.
Once you have it enabled, you can then begin learning the basic commands and using them to navigate your iPhone or iPad. Once you know how to use the basic controls, you can start adding new ones and creating your own customized command phrases.
You can also customize what feedback Voice Control gives you. You can choose to see a confirmation, hear a sound when it recognizes your command or show hints for what you could say.
The most important thing to note is that Voice Control will only recognize system-defined commands, if they exist. For example, if you want to type text into your phone’s message app, you would have to say “Command mode.”
If you’re not sure which commands to speak, it’s a good idea to first try and master the basics before trying out more complex commands. It may take some time to get the hang of everything, but once you do it will become a lot easier and more convenient.
There are many different ways to customize your Voice Control experience, and you can even use it to teach your phone new words. Some examples include saying the corresponding number to change an item or name, and speaking a numbered grid when you’re trying to navigate around an app’s interface. These are all simple ways to get started with Voice Control and can really help you make your life easier on your iPhone or iPad. So get started and have fun!
Siri
Siri is a voice-controlled virtual assistant that allows you to interact with your iPhone and iPad without touching it. It can perform a wide variety of tasks, including sending messages, setting reminders, and controlling smart home devices.
When you first set up your phone, iOS will ask if you want to turn on Siri. You can do this at any time by opening the Settings app and then scrolling down until you see “Siri & Search.”
To activate Siri, you can press the Side button or say “Hey Siri.” On older models of iPhones, you can also use the on-device Home button.
You can use Siri handsfree on an iPhone 12 by pressing the button on the right-side of the phone for a few moments, or by saying “Hey Siri.” This way, Siri will be enabled even if you’re locked out of your device.
Siri’s voice is more natural-sounding now, thanks to Apple’s recent iOS 14.5 update. This update includes a variety of voice styles to choose from, along with a voice that doesn’t have a specific gender.
If you find that Siri’s voice is hard to understand, you can change it. Simply tap the voice type you want to change from the options available, which include American, Australian, British, Indian, and Irish accents.
It’s a good idea to do this if you have a hearing loss, as it can help you better understand Siri’s responses. You can see captions of both Siri’s answers and your commands to Siri in the Settings app under “Siri & Search.”
When Siri doesn’t understand what you’re asking her, you can rephrase it or spell out a part of your request. Then, Siri will answer it again using your new request.
You can also rephrase your requests in the Siri Shortcuts app to make them easier to remember. This option is especially useful if you’ve changed your mind about the way you want to ask Siri a question or issue a command.
To use Siri when your phone is locked, slide the Access on Lock Screen switch to green. This feature can lower the security of your device, but it’s very handy when you need to speak to Siri quickly and easily.
Air Gestures
Air Gestures are a convenient way to control your smartphone without having to touch the screen. Simply wave your hand over the sensor and select what you want to do, such as accept a call, change music, or browse the web and photos.
There are 5 different gestures you can use to control your device: Swipe up to view notifications, swipe down to view time and date, swipe left or right to switch between apps, swing your wrist to launch a specific app, and tap to dismiss a task. These are a great addition to your iPhone and will help you get things done quickly.
To start using your device with Air Gestures, open Settings and access Advanced features. You should see an S Pen bubble icon along the right edge of your device when you have the feature enabled.
You can also customize the gestures that can be performed by tapping on the menu button and selecting Gestures. These gestures can be customized for any supported app. You can choose whether you want to perform a single-finger swipe, multifinger swipe or pinch gesture.
If you have a physical disability that makes it difficult for you to tap or swipe the screen, Air Gestures will let you create custom actions. You can record custom taps or swipes and save them to the AssistiveTouch menu.
Step 2 – Set up Custom Actions: In AssistiveTouch, under Custom Actions, select Single-Tap, Double-Tap or Long Press. You can adjust how long a single-tap or double-tap should last, and you can disable a double-tap or a long press for a given app.
Alternatively, you can use the Quickly open camera and Fast flashlight switches to open and turn on your device’s cameras. To enable these switches, select Gestures and then select the desired option.
You can also set up a “swipe to split” gesture, which uses the same finger-to-screen method as a normal swipe. To use this gesture, just swipe your finger back and forth across the screen once to activate split-screen. To learn more about these features, select the “Learn more” button below each gesture switch.
Bluetooth
Bluetooth is a wireless technology that allows you to connect your iPhone to various accessories and devices. These can include headphones, speakers, car kits, game controllers and more. You can use these devices to play music, stream media files and transfer data from one device to another.
When you have a Bluetooth device connected to your iPhone, you will see a white Bluetooth icon in the status bar. This indicates that the device is active and in range. If the icon is gray, Bluetooth has been disabled or a device is not connected to your iPhone.
To turn on Bluetooth, open Control Center and tap the Bluetooth button. You can also enable it in Settings, or by long-pressing on the Bluetooth shortcut on your home screen.
Once Bluetooth is enabled, your phone will show up in the list of paired devices on Control Center. You can then connect to the desired device and use it hands-free. You can then use your phone to make calls, access the contacts list and play media from your phone.
The process for pairing your phone to your Model 3 can be a little confusing at first. You may be prompted to enter a code or respond to a popup on the screen that requires your permission.
As you go through the steps to pair your phone, it’s important that both your phone and Model 3 are powered on. You should also place your phone in a “discovery” mode to ensure that it’s ready for a connection with your Model 3.
If you’re having trouble pairing your iPhone to your device, the best thing you can do is reboot your iPhone. This will clear up many common Bluetooth issues.
It is also a good idea to change the name of your Bluetooth devices. This will help you easily identify them and create a more organized and accessible list.
Bluetooth is a great feature on your iPhone and can be used for a variety of purposes, but it can be a pain to keep track of all the different connections it makes. The easiest way to do this is to use a third-party app that can easily display all the devices and connections on your phone.
